Heather Boysel, managing partner, Gammage & Burnham
BACKGROUND: Heather Boysel was elected as the managing partner of Gammage & Burnham in 2019. At the time, she was the youngest female managing partner at a mid-size Phoenix firm. Boysel’s legal practice focuses on the healthcare field, with an emphasis on reimbursement and regulatory issues.
CAREER PATH INSPIRATION: “My father was a physician, and for most of my childhood and early college years, I thought I would go into medicine. However, through working for my father’s practice, I learned about the complicated nature of the American healthcare system. I eventually realized that a legal career would allow me to focus on this issue.”
SOURCE OF PRIDE: “I am most proud of being elected to serve as our Gammage & Burnham’s first female managing partner. Law firms have lagged behind other industries in seeing female leadership. G&B, which has always been known for having intelligent, client-focused attorneys, has shown that it’s also a progressive firm.”
SOURCE OF INSPIRATION: “I have been blessed to be surrounded with a wonderful team of lawyers and staff that have allowed me to achieve more than I ever anticipated. In particular, I would thank Dick Burnham, Susan Watchman, Cameron Artigue and George Winney for showing me the importance of the business of law, having a depth of knowledge in their area, and being creative, yet practical.”
