BACKGROUND: Associate General Manager & Chief Water Resources Executive, Leslie Meyers, joined SRP in 2022, with more than 30 years of water resources management experience in Arizona and the Southwest. Throughout her career, Meyers has worked on strategic initiative planning and implementation with Federal, State, tribes, irrigation districts, local governments, non-governmental organizations and others. Leslie received a BS degree in Civil Engineering from Texas A&M University and is a registered Professional Engineer.

CAREER PATH INSPIRATION: “I’ve always loved spending time outside, particularly at the river or lake. I became an engineer and intended to work in water resources. Water issues in the West have always been challenging and I was drawn in with the hope of solving big problems.”

SOURCE OF PRIDE: “I am very proud of my work with tribes in Arizona and throughout the Southwest. Reservations have legal rights to water ensuring tribal communities can thrive and prosper on their land. Developing and implementing settlements has been complicated and often challenging, but ultimately the most fulfilling aspect of my career.”

SOURCE OF INSPIRATION: “Carol Erwin was in leadership at the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation when very few women worked in the engineering field. Carol has always been very supportive — but more importantly — she was an excellent role model that opened my mind and allowed me to imagine a limitless future.”

SURPRISING FACT: “People are often surprised to hear I have always wanted to work in water. Since childhood, I have wanted to be on the water. I began my career as a construction inspector at Waddell Dam and my best days are those in the field. I truly have my dream job.”
