Source of pride: “The practice of law can be a grind – especially in immigration, where the stakes are high and the systems are complex. My favorite days in the office are when a new client hires me or when we get word a case has been approved. It often takes months, or even years, of hard work in navigating multiple government agencies while making a few pivots along the way to see a case come to conclusion. I have the same sense of accomplishment whether I am working on a pro bono case to help an orphaned child or working with an international client to quickly and efficiently move key talent to the United States. I am also proud of the various leadership positions and board positions I’ve held that directly support the immigrant communities in the United States. I’ve been involved in domestic violence organizations, legal associations for diverse attorneys, the immigration bar, and have seen firsthand how combining legal knowledge with a leadership platform can create real, lasting impact for immigrant communities. Each of these accomplishments, big or small, reinforces why I chose this path and how meaningful this work continues to be.”
Professional advice: “One of the most empowering things you can do for your career as an attorney is to find and keep your own clients. It’s important that you foster your client relationships with care, integrity, and consistency as you weave through the complex legal process over time. Clients will remember how you make them feel, not just how you solved their problems. Celebrate every win, big or small, because this work is hard and the victories matter. Most importantly, keep your head up. There will be challenges, mistakes and moments of doubt. But if you stay grounded in purpose and keep showing up, those bumps and potholes will smooth out along the way.”
