Sambo “Bo” Dul, partner, Coppersmith Brockelman

Background: Dul is well-known in Arizona and nationwide for her impactful election and public law work. Her rare combination of legal expertise, civic leadership and public service is shaped by nearly two decades across government, private and nonprofit sectors. Dul recently served as general counsel to Gov. Katie Hobbs, where she built and led the legal team, managed high-profile litigation and advised on the state’s most complex issues. 

Advice to younger self: “Wherever you are, you’ve already arrived. The next finish line isn’t what unlocks happiness. You have to find fulfillment and joy where you are. Every stage in life has something you’ll miss when it passes and the challenges will pass, too. So, be present. Water the ground you’re standing on — the grass isn’t always greener on the other side. And at the end of the day, what matters most is family, the friendships and community you cultivate and how you give back and lift others up.”

Surprising fact: “I love to throw down … bowls, mugs, and vases on a pottery wheel! I find working with clay and the pottery wheel meditative and grounding, and daydream about piecing together a home studio one day.”
