The Thunderbirds – hosts of the Waste Management Phoenix Open – announced today Taylor Morrison (NYSE:TMHC), the nation’s fifth largest homebuilder and developer, has signed a long-term Presenting Sponsor agreement with the Waste Management Phoenix Open, beginning with the 2022 tournament, which will be played Feb. 7-13 at TPC Scottsdale. Taylor Morrison is the second Presenting Sponsor in the history of the Phoenix Open.

Taylor Morrison was a partner with the WM Phoenix Open in 2020, sponsoring the popular general admission venue that overlooks the 12th hole and is open to the public. The homebuilder will continue to sponsor that venue, which will be revamped for 2022 and renamed the Taylor Morrison Fairway House, in addition to serving as the Presenting Sponsor. Through the sponsorship, Taylor Morrison also plans to elevate its charitable contributions by donating a house to a charity of choice, which will be announced in coming months.

“Giving back to the community has always been engrained in Taylor Morrison’s culture and we are thrilled to make an even greater difference as Presenting Sponsor of the Waste Management Phoenix Open,” said Taylor Morrison Chairman and CEO Sheryl Palmer. “Beyond building homes, we are committed to cultivating communities. We are so grateful for the opportunity to help those most in need and uplift others throughout our communities with this meaningful partnership.”

The Thunderbirds recently announced the 2021 tournament, which was severely impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, still raised more than $3.8 million for local charities and now has eclipsed more than $165 million in charitable giving since the tournament’s inception in 1932. Construction for the 2022 version of “The People’s Open” began in late September – the 16th hole and The Fairway House are currently being built.

The 2022 WM Phoenix Open will take place Feb. 7-13 at TPC Scottsdale. “The People’s Open” has been named the Tournament of the Year by the PGA TOUR four times in the past seven years (2014, 2015, 2018, 2019) to acknowledge the tournament’s legendary status as one the most unique events in golf. The 2022 edition will mark the 87th playing of the event (one of the five oldest events on the PGA TOUR) and the 13th with Waste Management as title sponsor.
