Tutor Perini Building Corporation of Las Vegas on Tuesday was awarded the contractor bid to construct the Gila River Gaming Enterprise’s new Vee Quiva Casino in Laveen.

Tutor Perini was the general contractor for Seminole’s Hard Rock Casino, Mohegan Sun Expansion, MGM Grand at Foxwoods, and The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas to name a few.

The chairman of the Gila River Indian Community’s gaming development entity charged with construction of all of the tribe’s gaming operations, the Casino Expansion Owners Team (CEOT), Anthony Villareal, said, “The quality of projects Tutor Perini Building Corp. constructs is unparalleled, they are truly one of the industry’s best construction companies. A new Vee Quiva Casino with a hotel and better dining options has been a project on Gila River’s books for years, we are very pleased to see it come to fruition.”

The new Vee Quiva Casino is expected to cost approximately $135M and will feature an expansive 70,000 SF casino; more than 900 slot machines; 50 table games, including a poker room; 750 seat bingo hall; 3-story hotel with 90 rooms that will boast a fitness center, pool and more than 3,000 SF of banquet space; two lounges including a premium Players Club Lounge; and 2,800 total parking spaces including a 1,000 space covered parking garage.

These amenities combined with a wide variety of delicious dining options including a food court, coffee kiosk, signature restaurant and a dining option that will remain open all day will be popular destinations Gila River Casinos looks forward to providing its guests in partnership with Ovations Food Service.

Construction is scheduled to begin in June and will take place just south of the existing Vee Quiva Casino’s footprint. The current casino will remain open and operational during construction until the new Vee Quiva Casino & Hotel opens in the summer of 2013.

Friedmutter Group, also of Las Vegas, is the architectural firm selected and was announced earlier this year.
