A new study found Arizona has the No. 7 worst drivers and I-17 is the No. 9 deadliest highway in America.

Fatal car crashes historically surge in the summer as Americans drive longer distances — and ramp up alcohol consumption — for vacations, holidays, BBQ’s, weddings, and other social functions. Fatal car crashes peaked from May to October in 2022 – the most recent year on record — and drunk driving accounted for 31% of fatalities.
Munley Law today released a study on the States with the Best and Worst Drivers after analyzing nine metrics from the National Highway Safety Traffic Administration including traffic fatalities, drunk driving, DUI arrests, speeding, seat belt use, and more.
A few key findings that led to Arizona’s ranking show per capita there were 17.7 traffic fatalities, 236.81 DUI arrests, 5.44 drunk driving fatalities, and 5.06 speeding fatalities.
I-17’s ranking was based on having 16.5 fatal crashes per 100 miles.
