The current year’s Audi TT Roadster is one of the most attractive modern-styled luxurious coupes and convertible in the market. It boasts great cargo space and mileage and is part of many of the top ten luxury coupe and convertible vehicle lists. Unfortunately, the base model of the car has not impressed many reviewers.

The four-seater vehicle showcases an EPA of  23 mpg in the city and 31 mpg on highways. The model is more fuel-efficient than rival Mercedes-Benz SLC Class, which has EPA estimates of 20 in the city and 29 on the highway. But the higher TTS trim might be a bit closer to this rival. It has a 23 and 29 mpg estimate in the city and on the highway. Another one of the arch-rivals to the TT Roadster comes in the form of the ultra-popular Mazda MX-5 Miata. Interestingly, Mazda is celebrating its centenary year in 2020 as well.

• 2020 Audi TT Roadster priced at an average MSRP of $49,995

• Roadster trim comes with standard advanced safety and assistance features

• AWD comes as standard in all current year’s Audi TT trims

The acoustic folding roof of the convertible brings down the roof with a slight touch. The vehicle consists of a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 228 hp and 258 lb-ft torque. The manufacturer claims that it can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in merely 5.5 seconds, which is very impressive in the segment.

Both the coupe and convertible models are assisted with the permanent and standard Quattro® all-wheel-drive system. This feature enables the driver to optimize road traction. Besides this, the driver can customize torque to the rear wheel with the Audi drive select system. The system also provides other options to the driver such as steering effort adjustments, number of transmission shifts, and the response of throttle. The driver has the option to select any of the four modes, namely, Auto, Comfort, Dynamic and Individual-based on driving style preferences.

The manufacturer provides many advanced safety, security and assistance features as standard in the base variant of the current year’s Audi TT Roadster. These include front & rear parking sensors for the Parking system plus, Audi drive select, cruise control featuring coast, resume and accelerate functionalities, automatic windshield wipers and headlights that function with the rain and light sensors and keyless start, stop and entry. These advanced assistance features come as standard besides the traditional safety features like electronic stability control (ESC), anti-lock brake system (ABS), electronic brake pressure distribution (EBD), etc.

Aside from these, owners can add optional safety, security and assistance features to the base models. Features that potential buyers can add at an extra cost include blind-spot monitoring, side assistance, etc. The Roadster trim is second in line after the TT Coupe and the base model of the vehicle is available at an average MSRP of $49,995. Meanwhile, the average MSRP of the TT coupe is $3500 below this trim and the higher base TTS model is available at an additional average of $5500 cost above this model.

One of the best interior features of the model is the Audi Virtual Cockpit, which consists of a 12.3”  instrument display. A driver can customize the system with the optional MMI® Navigation plus system that provides both infotainment and classic modes. The latter mode allows drivers to view the speedometer and tachometer in a traditional manner. On the other hand, the infotainment system incorporates features of the classic system and other modern navigational visuals. The cockpit infotainment display is visible to the driver from most angles and under most lighting conditions.

Audi’s Virtual Cockpit is a state-of-the-art feature incorporated in the models of the manufacturer and makes it stand ahead in its class. Buyers can enhance the interior of the vehicle by adding Bang & Olufsen® Sound System that comprises 12 speakers and produces crisp sound at 680 watts of power. Moreover, the illuminating lighting of the speaker grille is eye-catching.

The manufacturer incorporated graceful premium material inside the vehicle. The front seats are much more comfortable than a user might expect. The heated and power-adjustable front seats come with a Leather and Alcantara upholstery in the trim. The company even offers optional Sports seats and Nappa leather upholstery along with honeycomb stitching. The front seat spacing is roomier than the rear seats.

Other standard infotainment and technology features in the interior include an Audi nine-speaker sound system that produces 155 watts, a music interface along with USB ports, HD Radio tech, Bluetooth, Audi phone box for wireless charging and signal booster and Homelink garage door opener.

The interior of the model also incorporates automatic climate control, manually adjustable tilt and telescopic steering column, electric wind blockers, and other standard features available in the segment of the manufacturer. The exterior of the trim also boasts many handy features besides the usual. These include auto-dimming, power foldable and heated side-view mirrors, automatic headlights, LED turn signals on the side mirror housings, etc.

The cargo space in the convertible variant is 7.5 cubic feet and in the coupe variant, it is 12 cubic feet. Moreover, this trim comes with a 50 by 50 split option, similar to the other trims. Therefore, the cramped rear seat of the vehicle is sufficient to carry luggage and grocery bags.

Although the safety and reliability ratings of the vehicle are not officially available, reviewers are still stating that it will be one of the best in its class. A source even states that the J.D.Power score of the trim will be better than most models in the segment. However, we will keep you updated about the safety and reliability ratings, positive features and drawbacks.

Presently, the manufacturer is offering a four-year or 50,000 miles limited and powertrain warranty with the car along with one year or 10,000 miles of complimentary scheduled maintenance. The car’s warranty plans are similar to many of the BMW and Mercedes-Benz models; however, BMW provides longer complimentary scheduled maintenance coverage than this Audi trim. Stay tuned for more updates on Audi and it’s pre-existing as well as upcoming models.
