9/10: Linkin Park and Thirty Seconds to Mars

The Carnivores Tour is stopping by US Airways Center with Linkin Park, Thirty Seconds to Mars and AFI for a show that’ll take many a Phoenician back to the height of emo and male eyeliner. The tour is meant to support Linkin Park’s sixth album and Thirty Seconds to Mars’ fourth album, with a dynamic Davey Havok-fronted AFI opening for the two bands. The crowd should be pretty rabid, given the hometown cred Linkin Park front man Chester Bennington’s current residential status.

9/11-14: Steve-O

Taking a break from his usual stunts and pranks, Steve-O of “Jackass” fame is coming back through Phoenix for some stand-up. Clean, sober and vegan since 2008, Steve-O’s jokes and stories about his life vary widely from the stunt-loving skateboarder that most people are familiar with.

9/12: 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony

In honor of 9/11, a remembrance ceremony will be held the day after the 13th anniversary of the tragedy. Events will include an opening ceremony by State Veterans of Foreign Wars, an illuminated walk, folding of the flag and Honors Guard Taps. First responders and veterans will be honored during the event as well.

9/13: El Palacio’s Rockin’ Taco Street Fest

The third annual Rockin’ Taco Street Fest is taking over Chandler with margaritas, tacos, a salsa competition, live entertainment and more. With chances to win a vacation get away in a raffle, play beach games, and more family fun, the street fest is a good time for the whole family and all your taste buds.

9/12-19: The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee

This Tony-winning improv sketch that was turned into a musical gives a glimpse into the competitive and overachieving world of spelling bees. With some audience participation, this show is bound to captivate audiences with its witty portrayal of over-achieving competitive spellers.
