Scottsdale Desert Stages Theatre, the award-winning, non-profit performing arts theatre in Old Town Scottsdale, has launched a Next Stage capital campaign in support of their upcoming move. Following 11 years in their current location on Scottsdale Road, Desert Stages will move to their new theatre space, previously occupied by Harkins Theatres within Scottsdale Fashion Square, in the fall of 2016.

“We are delighted to announce our plans to move into such a prominent location within Scottsdale Fashion Square,” said Laurie Cullity, co-founder and Executive & Artistic Director of Desert Stages. “Our beautiful new space will be more modern and much larger, 12,500 square feet compared to our current 6,500, and we are looking forward to the wonderful experiences this will offer both our audiences and our actors!”

Desert Stages kicks off their Next Stage campaign with a $30,000 grant from the Arizona Coyotes and funds raised at their annual gala, “Look Into Your Heart” held on February 27, bringing monies raised to nearly $75,000 already applied to the move.

Funds raised in Desert Stages’s Next Stage campaign will underwrite renovations necessary to turn the space previously used as movie theaters into a world-class performing arts theatre, complete with two theatre spaces, expanded classrooms and new light and sound packages. Desert Stages is offering multiple naming opportunities at their new space with high-visibility not only among their patrons, actors and families, but also Scottsdale Fashion Square’s 11 million annual shoppers.
