It’s always exciting to see our state on the big screen. Starting March 16, 2012 the city of Sedona will be the star.

The story begins when Tammy (Frances Fisher), a successful advertising executive, is driving from Portland to Phoenix to meet a client. She gets into a car accident and finds that the closest city is Sedona.

Frustrated and upset, she has several arguments with the locals, who are — according to her — very eccentric. Examples of these interesting characters are cosmic spiritualist Deb (Beth Grant) and friendly coffee shop owner Pierce (Christopher Atkins). While her car is being repaired, she realizes that where she ended up is no coincidence. Being stuck in Sedona forces Tammy to face her difficult past for the first time.

Meanwhile, workaholic lawyer Scott (Seth Peterson), his partner Eddie and their two sons embark on a hiking trip. During the hike, his seven-year-old son Denny gets lost amidst Sedona’s red rocks. The search for his son causes Scott to rethink his priorities and begin to understand that family should always come first.

Both these stories tell of two personal transformations that can occur in the mystical setting of Sedona, Ariz. This movie is described as a “feel-good” self-discovery movie that locals and non-locals alike can enjoy. “Sedona” focuses on featuring the beautiful hiking trails and picturesque scenery of the city.

Filming for this movie took only 21 days to complete and was written and directed by Tommy Stovall. “Sedona” received rave reviews at the 2011 Sedona International Film Festival and will be on DVD after its release in theaters.
