When I think “neighborly,” my mind goes to familiar, welcoming and relaxed — which is exactly what the Neighborly Public House is. Set in the North Central Corridor neighborhood, this eatery is conveniently located and offers plenty of parking. From the moment you walk through Neighborly’s doors, that feeling of familiarity combined with wafts of comfort food will wash over you immediately.

With an expansive bar as its focal point, Neighborly Public House features a modern meets old-school pub aesthetic, with cozy booths, green-plaid-print wallpaper and mood lighting — the exact atmosphere for an intimate dining experience with friends and family. There is also outdoor seating (currently populated with ample misters for toasty evenings).

The Neighborly’s overall staff demeanor mirrors the inviting environment of the restaurant, from bartender to server. Everyone goes above and beyond to make sure diners are enjoying their fare — and speaking of food, to get the full “Neighborly experience,” I recommend beginning with some of their tantalizing appetizers.

The house specialty, Broiled Oysters Rockefeller, are divine! And why wouldn’t an oyster smothered in creamy spinach, chopped bacon steak and a tish of hot sauce be anything but delicious? The Cast Iron Corn Bread with hatch green chiles and jack and cheddar cheese (with a generous dollop of whipped honey butter), and the Charred Brussels Sprouts tossed in a garlic balsamic reduction, mixed with candied bacon and roasted to perfection are additional must-tries.

As for Neighborly’s main dishes, there are several from which to choose — which might make your selection process difficult — because everything looks so tasty! From sandwiches and seafood to salads and steaks, there is something for everyone on the menu. The specialties highlight options such as a juicy, delectable Rotisserie Chicken that will make your tastebuds dance; a chonky double-thick pork chop (I dare you to eat the whole thing in one sitting!) and Wednesday through Saturday you can treat yourself to a 12- or 16-ounce Collins Bros. Prime Rib.

Alongside the “mains,” a variety of sides are available including a loaded baked potato (my personal favorite), jicama-peanut slaw, spaghetti squash and more.

In the dessert department, Neighborly certainly doesn’t disappoint. Satiate chocolate cravings with their Chocolate Mousse Pie or go for their rich and fluffy Coconut Cream Pie. But, if you really want a sweet and unique treat, indulge in the Butter Cake! Served warm with homemade ice cream, the Butter Cake also comes with a lavish fresh raspberry coulis and whipped sweet cream.

Even if you simply want to pop into Neighborly Public House for a drink, their extensive bar menu has a host of cocktails, wine, beer and liquors.
