Hilton Tucson El Conquistador Resort, managed by Prism Hotels and Resorts, announced that it has completed the largest renovation in the resort’s 35-year history, encompassing all areas of the property.

Nestled at the base of the Santa Catalina Mountains in the upscale community of Oro Valley, the iconic resort embarked on this multimillion dollar journey just two years ago. The recent completion marks the final phase of the transformation, bringing a brand-new look and feel to the resort’s 428 guestrooms and 139 casitas.

New indoor/outdoor amenities designed to take advantage of Tucson’s warm, sunny weather are at the core of the refresh and were the first to be revealed last year. The redesigned Desert Springs pool lies at the heart of the resort and now features a larger pool deck with additional lounging areas. New outdoor courtyards with sprawling grass lawns and verdant, indigenous landscaping surround the main pool, along with several outdoor firepits where guests can now relax after dark.

In the lobby, expansive sliding glass doors bring the outdoors in for an open-air experience with sweeping views overlooking the main pool and Pusch Ridge. Just outside, plush built-in lounge seating surrounds an expansive fire pit that serves as a focal point of the Colibri Lobby Lounge patio and is the perfect spot to catch Tucson’s stunning views while enjoying a fireside cocktail. El Conquistador Resort also features five unique dining venues each showcasing Southwestern-inspired cuisine and cocktails including the new Grab & Go featuring quick bites and local wines and the resort’s signature restaurant, Epazote Kitchen & Cocktails.

“This marks a new chapter for the resort. Our guests will now be able to experience so much more of what makes this area of the Sonoran Desert unique without having to leave the property,” said Ghee Alexander, general manager of the resort. “In addition to enjoying new guestrooms and amenities, guests can now experience horseback riding, guided desert hikes, native hummingbirds & butterflies in the garden, and enjoy the sunset to the performance of a Native American flute player.”

Capturing the spirit of the Southwest, El Conquistador Resort has also introduced a number of new guest experiences designed to bring the resort’s storied history to life including:

  • El Conquistador Western Adventures: The 18-horse stable, located on the resort’s property, offers guided horseback trail rides, riding lessons and family friendly adventures.
  • Hummingbird and Butterfly Garden: The garden attracts over 14 species of hummingbirds and features a copper fountain and an array of desert plants and flowers from aloe and desert honeysuckle to Baja fairycluster, ocotillo and red yucca that nourishes the indigenous wildlife year-round.
  • Salsa Garden: Proving that the desert can be bountiful in every season, the culinary team created a salsa garden featuring all the essential ingredients and more to make fresh daily salsas and use in the restaurants’ recipes.
  • El Con Kids Club: The Kids Club features specialized activities for children ages 4 to 12 with full-day, half-day and evening programs available on the weekends.
  • Health and Wellness Experiences: Every morning, the resort’s Elements Wellness Center offers a complimentary “Window to Wellness” experience including yoga classes, fitness walks and guided desert hikes. The resort fee also covers two hours of daily complimentary mountain bike rentals to explore the surrounding Sonoran Desert.
  • Artists Nest: Each month, the resort features a local artist whose work is showcased in the form of paintings, sculptures and more for guests to enjoy and embrace the local arts and culture.
  • Native American Flute Player: Creating a distinctively Southwest experience, a Native American flute player salutes the approaching night with song most evenings.

In addition to leisure guests, business travelers will also enjoy the new resort experience for meetings and events in a dynamic setting, with 100,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor flexible meeting space. From staying connected with the office or preparing for a presentation in the new Technology Lounge, hosting large conventions in the Turquoise or Presidio Ballrooms or a more intimate conference in the Coronado Ballroom to a Western-themed event in Last Territory, the resort offers superior catering options, exceptional décor for every occasion and an award-winning audio-visual team. Smart Meetings magazine also named El Conquistador Resort its Platinum Choice Award winner for 2016.
