The new Organic Looms showroom provides a convenient location for the interior design community and end-users alike to preview new offerings. Organic Looms President Christopher Frederick positions the brand as an industry leader and a true destination for custom sustainable handcrafted rugs.
The new showroom features an open layout with 10-foot high ceilings and five rug piles. The high ceilings create a perfect backdrop for the full size rugs to be hung down the length of the showroom in gallery style. The space will stock hundreds of rugs with additional pieces available at an offsite warehouse.
“Natural lighting and great task lighting are essential in the new space”, says Frederick. “We hope to have designers use the new showroom as a working studio where they can spread out their materials and develop custom rugs for their clients.”
Frederick is launching the Scottsdale showroom and permanently moving his family from Chicago. Frederick is an active part of all buying decisions, keeping the brand’s design aesthetic and vision in tact.
“My family and I have visited Scottsdale for a number of years and love the people and the scenery. We are excited for a new adventure and for the warm weather- a welcome change from Chicago’s cold winters”, says Frederick. “We have heard wonderful things about the design community in Arizona and look forward to meeting the designers, architects and homeowners and showing them what we have to offer. Whether it is a modern loft in downtown Phoenix or a rustic weekend home in Sedona, we have rugs to cover the gamut.”
Other highlights of the space include a television monitor highlighting the rug making process and travels abroad, soft grey wood floors and a beautiful patio perfect for meetings and to view the rugs and colors in natural sunlight. The overall color palette of the new showroom is clean, white and bright- showcasing Organic Looms’ vibrant offerings.
Frederick was first introduced to the fine rug industry in 2006 and rapidly made contacts with the families and artisans who create these fine works of art. His passion for travel has allowed him to celebrate the rich culture, history and techniques of the Tibetan and Indian peoples and share them with the US.
Each project is approached collaboratively by directly communicating with the artisans via weekly Skype sessions. Through the Organic Looms Custom Connect Program, seamless communication is achieved resulting in quality control and customer satisfaction.
Organic Looms is expanding its current robust collections with the addition of several new patterns, which include Rampur, Benares, Mahal, Mamluk and Vintage Turkish while bolstering their existing Tibetan and Linen Sumac Collections with new patterns. The new collections are marked by soft, plush textures, durability and design simplicity.
- The Rampur Collection: Named after a district in India, this collection is both lavish and lush, featuring a high density of 196 knots per inch. The collection is hand-carved and made of Himalayan wool with a slightly raised silk design. This collection is comprised of traditional patterns created with a modern twist in their unique coloring.
- The Mohair Collection: Mohair is known for its high luster and sheen. It is harvested from the belly of a sheep making it one of the most luxurious and desirable fibers in the world. This sumptuous collection has a variegated color perfect for contemporary spaces. 18 new colors have been added to the Mohair Collection and custom colors and sizes are available.
- The Mahal Collection: This is the most luxe line of patterned rugs in the Organic Looms’ collection. Mahal is a wool/silk blend and boasts transitional and abstract patterns. It is sophisticated in nature with a high knot count and minimal pile height.
- The Mamluk Collection: Named after a period in Egyptian history, this collection is hand made using a dramatic hi-low weaving technique using 100 percent wool. The collection features 4 new patterns taking cues from traditional Egyptian embroideries.
- Vintage Turkish: Handcrafted by master weavers of a previous generation, Organic Looms’ one-of-a-kind vintage wool rugs have patina that carpets acquire only through age. Made in Turkey over 30 years ago, each hand-knotted rug has its own personality, harmonious colors and genteel signs of wear. Gently restored as needed, leaving intact the variations in shading, texture and weathering that give them such generous character.
- The Linen Sumac Collection: This line of flat weaves is a contemporary line with 6 new patterns. The majority of this collection is made using natural wool yarns with weights almost double to those of typical Tibetan carpets.
- Alpaca Up for the Weekend Collection: The Alpaca Up for the Weekend Collection is made of 100 percent Peruvian Alpaca. Soft and supple this collection is robust in color, texture and luster.
- The Benares Collection: The Benares Collection blends old and new. With a twist on the traditional, these patterns have been rejuvenated with bright colors, broken patterns and are available with or without a long silk fringe. This collection is the ultimate luxury with a 196-knot count and slightly raised design. The fringe is customizable with options in a 3 inch silk fringe or 1.5 inch tea-washed fringe. Color customization is available. The Benares Collection is named after the ancient city in India famous for its rugs and this collection pays homage to the beauty and tradition of Indian culture.
- The Tibetan Collection: This collection is Organic Looms’ best seller and an Organic Looms’ staple. It is an expanded with hundreds of new designs.
As with all of Organic Looms rugs, custom colors and sizes are available along with hundreds of in stock options. All rugs are hand woven in India and Nepal adhering to fair labor practices.
