Let’s face it: We all need a break every now and then. We might be running our own business, working full-time, and helping out with the kids – all while keeping up with the household chores.

But at the end of the day, you’re burned out and don’t have anything left. This is why it’s important to dedicate a day to take care of yourself, and you certainly don’t have to wait – start with these seven ideas today!

1. Gift

Just because it isn’t your birthday or special holiday doesn’t mean you don’t deserve to be pampered with a gift. Treating yourself could be buying a gift for yourself, like personalized floral wall decor for your bedroom or office. Lily & Spruce Co. has a beautiful collection of different floral wall decor that you will absolutely love.

2. Day To Yourself

If you spend most of your time catering to other people at work or at home, it might be worth taking a day entirely to yourself. Go for a long drive with your favorite playlist and the windows rolled down. Go out to a nice restaurant alone or see a movie by yourself.

If you ask your partner to drive the kids to their dance class or need to take a day off work, that doesn’t make you selfish. Remember, you can’t pour from an empty cup – you have to fill your own first!

3. Staycation

Sometimes all you need is a little time away to regroup. That doesn’t mean you have to book an all-inclusive trip to some remote island. Book an Airbnb at a nearby cabin to unplug and reconnect with nature. Rent a condo in a city a few hours away and unwind with some delicious meals or spend a day at a spa retreat.

4. Movie Marathon

In a world that is constantly telling us to be on the go, sometimes treating yourself means slowing down or doing absolutely nothing. I don’t know about you, but I love a good movie night curled up underneath the blankets with my dog where I have the chance to turn off my brain. Choose some feel-good movies, buy some of your favorite snacks, and relax for a few hours.

5. Favorite Hobby

When we find ourselves overwhelmingly busy, our creative outlets tend to take a backseat. Treat yourself by diving back into the hobbies you love. Maybe you are an avid baker and want to spend the afternoon making delicious creations in the kitchen. Or, perhaps you haven’t picked up your guitar in a few months. Now is the time to shake off the dust and spend a little time reconnecting with yourself.

6. New Hobby

On the flip side, you can always treat yourself to a new hobby you have never tried before. Have you always wanted to try glass blowing or take a yoga class? Sometimes we plan to do something but never actually take the initiative. Take a few minutes on your next break and sign up for something that you would find fun and exciting to try.

7. Dinner Party with Friends

While we talked a lot about spending time with yourself, sometimes you need a night to socialize. Human connection is a huge part of what makes us thrive. If you haven’t seen your closest friends for a while, set up a night for a dinner party. Add it to your calendar so you can make sure you are making this night equally as important as your other weekly tasks.

You can even turn it into a potluck where everyone can bring a meal so you won’t be stressed about cooking for a large group of people. It’s all about having fun, not worrying if you will have enough food to feed everyone or not.

Treating yourself doesn’t have to be anything elaborate or incredibly expensive. Avoid burning out with something simple from this list or think of something that sounds wonderful. At the end of the day, that’s what treating yourself is all about – you!
