It’s the fight that no one could have predicted a year ago: YouTube star Jake Paul will face former UFC champion Tyron Woodley in a professional boxing match on Sunday, Aug. 29. The pay-per-view event starts at 5 p.m.
After scoring knockouts of fellow YouTube star AnEsonGib, former NBA player Nate Robinson, and former Bellator welterweight champion and ex-UFC fighter Ben Askren, YouTube sensation Jake Paul will fight former UFC welterweight champion and UFC commentator Tyron Woodley, the man who was in Askren’s corner when he got knocked out.
Even though Askren had never boxed professionally and was known more for his wrestling than for his striking, many experts considered Askren a favorite because of his MMA pedigree. Askren’s loss to Paul gave the world of mixed martial arts a black eye that Woodley hopes to avenge.
