The 30th Annual Chandler Chamber of Commerce Ostrich Festival announces Grammy award-winning American funk and rhythm and blues band Kool & The Gang will headline the festival on the Main Stage on Friday, March 9. Tickets for the 2018 festival, March 9-11, are on sale now at OstrichFestival.com.
Kool & The Gang is an iconic fixture in American music, known for creating tracks that unite funk and jazz to create a sound that is truly unique. The band’s greatest hits include “Celebration,” “Cherish,” “Jungle Boogie,” “Ladies Night,” “Summer Madness” and “Open Sesame,” which helped them secure two Grammy Awards, seven American Music Awards, 25 Top Ten R&B hits, nine Top Ten Pop hits and 31 gold and platinum albums. The group, who has been actively making music since 1964, has become one of the most sampled bands of all time and has performed nonstop over the course of 45 years, longer than any R&B group in history.
Over the course of their career, Kool & The Gang has gone through several different names including Kool & The Flames, The Soul Town Band and The New Dimensions, to name a few. The ensemble ultimately decided on Kool & The Gang and went on to produce an impressive catalog of smash hit singles and sell more than 70 million albums worldwide. In addition to their massive mainstream success, Kool & The Gang is popularly credited with playing a part in shaping the music of three generations.
