With a mantra to ‘find your sun’, the newest eco-friendly sun wear clothing brand, Somewhere Sunny, is bringing the latest in sustainably produced and comfort-forward apparel to the sun-seeker in all of us. A primary goal of founder and entrepreneur Shea Beck is to reduce the overall environmental footprint by limiting fabric waste and using recycled and renewable materials and organic fabrics in each design.

Currently, the brand has a full line of men’s swimwear that on average is made of 90% recycled plastic water bottles. Each pair of swim shorts utilizes approximately 12 single-use, ocean bound plastic water bottles and the remaining material is made out of sustainable bamboo-based or organic fabrics. The recycled shorts are available in numerous colors and patterns, inseams from six to eight inches all with built-in, comfortable, fast-drying boxer brief liners.
Materials and supply chain sourcing are closely tracked to make sure that the products are sustainable, ethically sourced and have limited factory impact. Their ‘people and planet over profits’ focus is certified by the organization
1% for the Planet which represents a global network of businesses, individuals and agencies who commit 1% of their annual sales or salaries to environmental causes.
“When concepting Somewhere Sunny, I wanted to bring to life a brand that exuded positivity and light, while giving consumers the confidence in knowing they are purchasing a product that is truly sustainable,” says Beck. “While we know we are just a clothing brand, our hope is that our customers find that ray of sunshine and happiness every time they put on their swim shorts and prepare for their favorite activity.”
Beyond the sustainable manufacturing of the products, the apparel has an Ultraviolet Protection Factor (UPF) of 50, providing sun-protection to customers along with the unparalleled comfort of its swimwear, long-sleeve shirts, hoodies and more.
“As someone who battles anxiety and depression, our mantra to ‘find your sun’ was really born out of that intention to actively seek out happiness as it is not something that just falls in your lap,” says Beck. “Somewhere Sunny is that reminder for me personally, and I hope it will be for others who purchase our products.”
