Here are 10 Arizona steakhouses to try, as featured in the latest issue of Experience AZ magazine.

The Stockyards Restaurant

Things to know: This Southwestern culinary landmark originally opened in 1919 as the world’s largest cattle feedlot. With the addition of a steakhouse in 1947, it’s been serving culinary aficionados ever since. It’s famous for both the role it played in Arizona’s cattle industry, as well as its stunning architectural design, and was even recently placed on the City of Phoenix Historical Register. Stockyards offers lunch, dinner, and happy hour menus, as well as a wine list. Stockyards is willing and able to accommodate large groups, ranging from 15-225. The three banquet rooms — the Rose Room, Cattleman’s Room and Gold Coast Room — are perfect for any and all occasions.

Don’t miss: All customers are treated to a traditional relish tray and a heaping basket of baking soda biscuits and cornbread muffins. After savoring these, don’t miss out on the filet mignon, served with whiskey peppercorn demi-glace bearnaise sauce, or house steak butter on the side. If steak isn’t really your thing, go for the skillet salmon with citrus-chile glaze and rice pilaf. And for dessert, try the citrus burnt cream (their version of creme brulee), a subtle and delectable way to finish off your evening.
