The Wigwam, one of Arizona’s most historic and acclaimed hotels, has been recognized as one of the top 25 resorts in Texas and the Southwest, according to Condé Nast’s most recent annual survey, released earlier this week.

More than 128,000 travelers – the most in its history – took part in the 28th Annual Readers’ Choice Awards survey, conducted each year by Condé Nast Traveler. Rankings of hotel and resorts are based on subjective scores filed by travelers.

The Condé Nast awards are the longest-running and most prestigious recognition of excellence in the travel industry and are commonly known as “the best of the best of travel.”

“We are pleased but not surprised that our guests have responded so positively to the experience known simply as our ‘Wigwam Ways’,” said General Manager/Area Managing Director, Greg Gooding. “It’s all about serving our guests at the highest level and creating a friendly, warm and memorable experience. This recognition wouldn’t be possible without our outstanding employees who make it all happen.”

The Wigwam was originally build in 1918 as a gathering place for visiting executives of the Goodyear Tire Company and opened as a full-service resort in 1929.  In operation for more than 85 years, the resort property is steeped in history and award-winning traditions.
