The Shemer Art Center’s “Let’s Play” and “Desert Fairytale” visual art exhibitions will be temporarily closed from June 29 to July 4 for roof repairs, before the showcases wrap on July 9.

Patrons can see 12 layered oil paintings by Emma Florance as part of “Desert Fairytale.” They capture the contradiction between the urban lifestyle and the surrounding desert.
“These exhibitions shine a spotlight on the playful and fairytale creativity of these selected Arizona artists,” said Shonna James, the Shemer Art Center’s president and executive director.
“We invite the community to stop by to see these two new exhibitions and also discover one-of-a-kind treasures in our boutique gift shop, perhaps just in time for Father’s Day.”
Since 1984, the Shemer Art Center has supported and showcased Arizona artists in one of Arcadia’s first homes. The exhibitions, along with the gift shop and outdoor sculpture garden, are open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday to Saturday.
