Studio Ma, innovators in architecture and environmental design and Arizona’s Firm of the Year, will be represented in The American House, a book of 100 contemporary American homes by leading architects, forthcoming from Images Publishing Group.
Among the residences featured in the book is a preview of Starlight Cabin, a new home designed by Studio Ma for a site surrounded by ponderosa pine forest in the Arizona Highlands.
Inspired by the shape of a pinecone on its side, the dwelling is both a response to the demands a beautiful yet fragile environment and an embodiment of the culture and nature of the forested region. The compact form, wrapped in oxidized metal siding and with three porches, is nestled among firs on a slope overlooking a meadow, in harmony with its pristine surroundings.
Edited by Hannah Jenkins, The American House surveys contemporary residential architecture in the United States, featuring “cutting-edge residential designs by leading architects,” according to the publisher Images. The book is illustrated with award-winning photography as well as schematic design imagery.
