Our findings reveal that Colorado dominates the list of the priciest Airbnb offerings in the US, with five properties securing spots in the top 10. The other top properties are located in Texas, Nevada, South Carolina, California, and Idaho. Notably, Colorado also boasts the most expensive listing nationwide: the Riverbend House. This luxurious eight-bedroom villa in Aspen, nestled along the serene banks of the Roaring Fork River, commands a staggering post-tax nightly rate of $55,729, totaling $390,100 for a week-long stay in July. Remarkably, this amount exceeds what the average American earns in nearly seven years of full-time work as per our calculations ($59,275/year).

These are the 10 most expensive Airbnb rentals we found in the United States:

Here are a few key takeaways from our report:

  • The Riverbend House in Colorado ranks as the most expensive Airbnb in the US, costing $390,100 for a 7-night stay in July. Following closely are Texas’ The Crown Jewel on Lake Austin ($375,086/week) and Nevada’s Sierra Sunset Estate ($276,941/week).
  • According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the median weekly earnings of US full-time wage and salary workers in Q1 of 2024 were $1,136, or about $59,275 a year. This means that the average American would need 6.58 years of earnings to afford a week-long vacation at the nation’s priciest Airbnb ($390,100/week).
  • The cost of a week’s stay at the Riverbend House ($390,100) is approximately 90% of the national median home price as of April 2024, which stood at $432,903 according to Redfin.
  • Data from Zillow shows that the median monthly rent for all bedrooms and property types in the US as of May 29, 2024, is $2,120, which adds up to $25,440 annually. Therefore, a week at the most expensive Airbnb in the country ($390,100) could cover over fifteen years’ worth of rent in some parts of the country.
  • At a 50% occupancy rate, the priciest Airbnb in the US should generate an annual revenue of $10,170,543, according to our calculations.
