Medieval Times Dinner & Tournament will host an open casting call on Thursday, Feb. 21 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Courtyard by Marriott Scottsdale Salt River to cast individuals interested in training to be a Knight of the Realm.

These positions will involve Knights competing in games, jousting and sword fighting, both on foot and horseback in an arena filled with more than 1,000 fans during each two-hour live tournament. Knight candidates will work closely with Medieval Times’ Head Horse Trainer and stable team to ensure exemplary care and training for the magnificent horses. These positions do not require prior horseback, weaponry, or combat skills, as all Medieval Times’ Knight candidates are enrolled in an extensive training program.

Applicants must be able to travel to Dallas, Texas for training during the months of March through June. Knight candidates will complete a three-month training program at Chapel Creek Ranch, a beautiful 230-acre ranch where Medieval Times’ purebred Andalusian horses are bred and born. During their time at the ranch, Knight candidates will learn a variety of skills including horse care, how to ride a horse, weapon training, performance/choreography, social responsibility, nutrition and physical conditioning.

“About 80 percent of our Knights have never ridden before, and we’re using Andalusians and Friesians – huge, powerful animals with a mind of their own. I teach the Knight candidates to stay calm and relaxed, and the horses get their confidence from their rider,” said Tim Baker, Director of Stunts, Choreography and Equestrian Programs for Medieval Times. “Anyone with some experience in organized sports or martial arts will learn faster. People who know how to listen, and who work as a team, are the ones we want.”

The casting call will be held at Courtyard by Marriott Scottsdale Salt River located at 5201 N Pima Rd, Scottsdale, AZ 85250. For more information, please visit: www.medievaltimes.com/CastingCall.
