The Jewish Collection, Arizona’s largest Judaic store, will be moving locations from the Safeway shopping center off Scottsdale Road and Shea Boulevard — and raising money for charity, too.

The shop will hold a ceremony on Saturday, Mar. 10 and Sunday, Mar. 11 to celebrate its grand opening. Sunday’s event is an interactive fundraiser and trunk show to benefit Jewish charities, including Congregation Beth Israel, Har Zion congregation, Valley of the Sun Jewish Community Center Early Childhood Center and Congregation Or Chadash.

Distinguished Judaic artist Gary Rosenthal, traveling from his Maryland home to join the celebration, will be featuring a collection of his art. Children and adults of all ages will have the opportunity to work alongside Rosenthal to create their own fused glass creations.

Opened in 2006, the Jewish Collection in Scottsdale brings the culture and religion to new heights with a display of more than 25,000 items and religious pieces needed for life events, holidays and gifts.

Nancy Brooks, owner of the Jewish Collection says, “our store is always stocked with … everything needed to be a practicing Jew.”

Brooks also collaborates with local rabbis to ensure the religious pieces detail Jewish law.

The Jewish Collection, dedicated to the growth of the Jewish community in the greater Phoenix area, also hosts educational events and has provided more than $150,000 in financial support to Jewish and secular organizations since 2006.

During the final weeks before the move, select store items will be reduced 30 to 70 percent off the regular price.

The free event is open to the public and will take place at the new location from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. For more information, visit their website at thejewishcollection.com.
