Phoenix’s hard-hit residential real estate market has shown signs of recovery the last two years, but through the worst of it, Green Street Communities, Inc. (GSC) has provided stability where others in the industry could not. Local residents looked to GSC to bring revenue to local contractors, create jobs for local workers and improve desirability and equity in neighborhoods.

The Green Street Communities Difference
With a hyper-local focus on neighborhoods in the Arcadia, Paradise Valley, Scottsdale and Central Phoenix area, GSC incorporates new, yet timeless, building and design trends to create unique, high-quality homes. More importantly they are building new homes in highly sought after established infill neighborhoods, where typically only outdated homes existed.

The company repurposes, rebuilds and transforms under-utilized houses into functional living spaces for today’s families. GSC focuses on building homes that are energy-efficient and thoughtfully designed. Their projects often exceed today’s building standards, and unlike production builders, each home has the one-of-a kind feel homebuyers desire. Additionally, GSC homes increase local property values and help instill community pride while preserving a neighborhood’s original charm.

Additionally, GSC recently acquired land in the following locations for several new projects:

Looking Beyond the Current Market

Derek Jarr, Green Street Communities
Derek Jarr, Green Street Communities

Owner Derek Jarr, who had been investing in residential real estate since 2002, has improved and sold more than 1,000 homes since 2002. With the cyclical nature of the real estate industry, Derek has recently successfully repositioned from a distressed investment strategy to the value-add approach of new construction and development.

“I enjoy identifying opportunities to pursue that can be enhanced and repurposed,” Jarr said. “I’ve always been driven to look beyond current market conditions to identify strategies that will capitalize on future trends while exceeding customer needs.”

By focusing on the nuances of individual neighborhoods, rather than mass-producing a layout or design, Green Street Communities has earned a reputation for building homes that harmonize and compliment others in the neighborhood.
