Phat Scooters, a leader in Neighborhood Electric Vehicle manufacturing, will soon be opening a new headquarters in Phoenix, Arizona. The company signed a long-term lease for a 44,162-square-foot industrial/flex building located at 3637 E Miami Ave. in the Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport submarket. Phat Scooters is relocating and significantly expanding its operation from its previous location less than 10 minutes away in neighboring Tempe. Cushman & Wakefield’s Joshua Wyss and Christian Coraggio represented the tenant in the transaction.

Phat Scooters’ new freestanding headquarters facility will be used for manufacturing, distribution as well as house the company’s corporate offices. One of the major attractions of the property is the more than three acres of paved fenced yard that will be used as a test track by the company. Phat Scooters is expected to take occupancy of its new Phoenix facility in September.

Joshua Wyss, Senior Director, said, “The Miami Avenue building is uniquely suited to fit the company’s needs while maintaining a central location to provide easy access to its local customers. While the site will be used for distribution, it will also feature manufacturing and a research & development lab to support further product innovation.”

Wyss added, “Together with our client, we began the search for their new headquarters almost a year ago, evaluating several properties over that time, but none were ideal to Phat Scooters’ unique needs. Through frequent market interaction, we were able to identify the Miami building immediately after it became available, and Phat Scooters reacted quickly—our first site visit occurred within two days after the property hit the market.”

According to the company, the electric Phat Scooter is viewed not just as a fun ride but an innovative game-changer in how we move around, leaving a zero to minimal carbon footprint. Phat Scooters is deemed evolutionary rather than revolutionary in golf and in all sorts of family entertainment. And their culture is one that has been built around creativity, togetherness, and humanity.

“We are excited to be opening our new headquarters within the Phoenix Metro area—a place we are so proud to call home and having grown from just a small garage operation to now this large facility as result of our amazing growth and success,” says Peter Johnson, CEO of Phat Scooters. He added, “In addition to the fun and imaginative line of scooters we offer, this growth has been the result of the wonderful culture of our team and all their hard work. As a company we saw 300 percent revenue growth from 2019 to 2020, while increasing our employee base from 15 to 60 since last summer. We hope our new space, which is also heavily focused on customer experience, will allow for further growth heading into just our fourth year in business.”

In addition to the new facility, Phat Scooters is currently in production on their own docu-series called “Riding Phat” and has a five-year distribution agreement with Sony Entertainment/Chicken Soup for the Soul for the streaming platform Crackle. “The show will follow the growth, challenges and adventures of the Phat Scooters team and will feature appearances from celebrity clients,” says Derrick Mains, President of Phat Scooters. “We have been working with other local business partners to be a part of the show as well Rockford Fosgate, BlueMedia and other local and national vendors are helping out with product placement and locations.”

Phat Scooters allows individuals to be ready for any adventure with three versatile driving modes: bike mode at 20 MPH, golf mode at 13 MPH, and beach mode at 8 MPH. The electric scooters deliver the safest, smoothest, and easiest ride, with the fat tires and securely welded handlebars. With just a 6-inch ground clearance and EABS hydraulic disk breaks that will stop on a dime, electric drivers can feel secure. In most states, license and registration are not required as they are classified as a category 2 E-bike, allowing individuals to explore on their stylish vehicle the moment it is delivered.

The company’s new headquarters is strategically and conveniently positioned just a few minutes from Interstate 10 via South 40th St. and offers close proximity to the Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport. The property is owned by Stadler Family Limited Partnership.
