Homie is expanding operations in Arizona

Utah-based technology company Homie is expanding its team and operations in Arizona, giving more buyers and sellers an efficient, affordable alternative to the traditional real estate model. The company launched in Salt Lake City in 2015 and has become the largest listing broker in the state of Utah. Homie opened an office in the Phoenix area in 2018 and has quickly grown to 35 employees in Arizona.

CEO and co-founder Johnny Hanna has big plans for continued expansion, which include moving from Homie’s Scottsdale office to a location in the Biltmore Esplanade to accommodate the larger team. “The Phoenix metro area is so big. Maricopa County has 95,000 homes sold annually,” Hanna told the Phoenix Business Journal in August. “We plan to continue to expand as we gain more market share. There’s so much activity in Arizona. We see ourselves growing to four times to what our Utah office is.”

Homie provides an affordable, one-stop real estate experience from contract to close. Unlike traditional agents who collect a whopping 6% in commissions while buyers and sellers do much of the work themselves, Homie’s team of specialized agents eliminates high fees and commissions by bundling real estate, home loans, title, and closing services.

The average commission savings for an Arizona Homie seller is over $10,000, while buyers receive an average rebate of $5,000 when they purchase their home using a Homie agent and platform. “We used Homie to both sell and buy our home in Arizona and ended up saving thousands in the process,” said Homie customer Jessica Schilt of Peoria. “I was worried initially that it would feel like we were selling our home by ourselves, but I was pleasantly surprised to have all the help of professionals easily accessible to us.”

Homie is selling homes fast, in an average of 33 days as opposed to 63 days for the market. The company also sells homes at an average of 99% of list price, compared to a market average of 97.87%.

“Homie is not just about saving consumers thousands of dollars,” said Hanna. “It’s about delivering a better experience by selling quickly and for top dollar. We provide clients with a more experienced real estate agent and empower them with as much data as possible to provide transparency, increase convenience, and improve the overall customer experience.”
