The renter lifestyle comes with a great degree of flexibility, especially as considerably more people are working from home during these times. This shift may lead many to consider ditching their crammed, big-city apartments for larger, airier places in the burbs. With this idea in mind, Rentcafe.com wanted to find out which are the suburbs with the largest apartments in the biggest U.S. metros.

Here are the highlights for Phoenix:

Surprise offers the largest apartments in the Valley, with an average apartment size of 991 square feet.

• Renters gain 191 extra square feet if we compare Surprise rentals to the average apartment size in the City of Phoenix, which is 800 square feet.

• Closing out the top 5 is Scottsdale, where the average apartment measures 943 square feet.
