ViaWest Group, a Phoenix-based real estate investment, development, and property management firm, today announced the acquisition of Ahwatukee Golf Club, an 18-hole daily fee golf course located in the heart of the Ahwatukee Foothills community. The off-market acquisition represents ViaWest’s first investment in the golf and recreation sector, reflecting the firm’s continued evolution into experiential real estate while remaining committed to creating places that strengthen the communities they serve. The sale price was $5,300,000, according to Vizzda.

Originally designed by Arizona golf legend John Bulla, Ahwatukee Golf Club has been a neighborhood fixture for decades, offering an 18-hole championship course, practice facilities, golf instruction, and gathering spaces for golfers of every skill level.
ViaWest was drawn to the property as a long-term value-add investment in experiential real estate, recognizing the growing demand for high-quality, community-oriented destinations that combine recreation, hospitality, and social connection. Ideally situated with immediate access to Interstate 10 and within 20 minutes to much of the Valley, Ahwatukee Golf Club is uniquely positioned to serve both local residents and visitors alike. Preserving the course as a vibrant, accessible public amenity, rather than seeing it redeveloped, was central to ViaWest’s vision. The company sees an opportunity to thoughtfully reinvest in the property, elevate the experience for daily-fee golfers and families, and secure its future as a gathering place for the Ahwatukee community for generations to come.
“Our goal is to build upon what has made Ahwatukee Golf Club special for generations while introducing new experiences that ensure its success for decades to come,” said Alex Hondros, Senior Vice President, Acquisitions & Asset Management at ViaWest Group. “This is much more than a golf course investment. It’s an investment in the community. We see tremendous opportunities to create a destination where golfers, families, businesses, and neighbors can gather, connect, and enjoy a modern golf experience.”
ViaWest plans to implement a phased improvement program focused on enhancing both the golf experience and the property’s hospitality offerings while allowing the course to remain open throughout construction. Planned improvements include driving range facility and technology upgrades, modernizing irrigation infrastructure, and a clubhouse renovation.
To help bring its vision to life, ViaWest will partner with Paradigm Golf, whose work at Dobson Ranch Golf Course has demonstrated how thoughtful investment, innovative programming, and exceptional hospitality can transform a public golf facility into a vibrant community destination. Together, ViaWest and Paradigm Golf will seek to create that same level of energy and engagement at Ahwatukee Golf Club.
“From our very first conversations, ViaWest shared a vision for Ahwatukee Golf Club that immediately resonated with us preserving a beloved community course while reimagining what it can be for families, juniors, and golfers of every level, “said Matt Stark, President of Partnerships at Paradigm Golf Group “That alignment made this partnership feel natural from day one, and together we’re committed to making Ahwatukee a place where golf is fun, welcoming, and truly belongs to the community.”
The acquisition represents ViaWest’s first investment in the golf and recreation sector and reflects the firm’s broader philosophy of investing in real estate that creates enduring economic and community value. While best known for developing and managing commercial real estate throughout the western United States, ViaWest views thoughtfully managed recreational and hospitality-focused assets as a natural extension of its expertise in placemaking and long-term stewardship.
Ahwatukee Golf Club was acquired from Free Drop LLC in an off-market transaction. The seller was represented by Jon Knudson of Insight Land & Investments.
Additional details regarding renovation timing, programming, and branding will be announced as planning progresses.
