Billed as one of the “50 Most Romantic Retreats” in the world by Travel + Leisure and one of the original resorts to offer an on-staff director of romance nearly a decade ago, Royal Palms Resort and Spa is taking its romantic offering to the next level.

New this year, Royal Palms is rolling out a “Renewal Moon”, similar to a honeymoon or babymoon, where couples are encouraged to reconnect during an intimate stay that is focused on relationship renewal at every level.

From now through the end of the year, couples have the option to add-on a Renewal Moon to any resort stay and select from a romantic menu that offers a variety of reconnection activities like private coaching to rebuild their relationship, unique couples spa and wellness treatments, in-room games to spark romance and communication or a Via Cappello dining experience, which is a candlelit dinner in a “lovers’ corner” tucked away in various magical and imaginative settings throughout the grounds with a dedicated server and custom aphrodisiac menu.

“We live in a hectic world full of demanding work schedules, family obligations, racing from one activity to the next and being inundated with technology and distractions of all kinds. Couples realize that while they may live in the same household and see each other daily, they’ve lost that spark and connection that originally brought them together,” said General Manager Carlos Morales. “We’re aiming to offer a getaway experience that celebrates intimacy at all levels and helps couples rediscover one another again.”

As part of the Renewal Moon offering, guests can select from the following options:

Via Cappello ($350++ per couple)

Named for a romantic residence in Verona, couples can experience a Via Cappello, which is a candlelit dinner in a “lovers’ corner” tucked away in various magical and imaginative settings throughout the grounds. A custom, multi-course aphrodisiac menu by T. Cook’s Executive Chef Alex Robinson and a private, dedicated server make the experience truly exclusive.

Couples Coaching (Pricing based on duration of session)

In partnership with Phoenix-based Fun Fantasy Ritual, couples can book a private session focused on rebuilding their relationship. Through date concierge services and coaching, owners Dana Lam and Martin Kupper, a couple themselves, help people improve their relationships through intentional practices that enhance romance and connection.

Citrus Ritual with Champagne & Fruit ($680 per couple)

Known as Alvadora Spa’s signature treatment, the Citrus Ritual begins within the lavish stone-walled Acqua Dolce suite that has side-by-side, custom heated stone tables. Couples experience a full-body exfoliation treatment while water gently cascades from above. The 100-minute ritual is followed by a customized massage. During the ritual, couples enjoy the oversized soaking tub for two, an eight-foot waterfall shower, an outdoor raindrop shower and a private garden patio and fireplace reminiscent of a villa in Italy. Champagne and fruit round out the offering.

Yoga Nidra ($330++per couple, 60 minutes)

Yoga Nidra, or yogic sleep as it is commonly known, is an immensely powerful meditation technique, and one of the easiest yoga practices to develop and maintain. While the practitioner rests comfortably in savasana (corpse pose), this systematic meditation takes you through the pancha maya kosha (five layers of self), leaving participants with a sense of wholeness. Unlike other forms of meditation in which you focus on a mantra or on your breath, Yoga Nidra asks you simply to let go or surrender.

Double Gong Meditation ($125 per couple)

Alvadora Spa offers Double Gong Meditation, in partnership with Metta Yoga. Participants lie on yoga mats while the sound instructor begins with a variety of small movements to open the body. Designed to bring about healing through brainwave stimulation, double gong meditation is a form of sound therapy where the gong plays softly, increasing in volume as the session progresses.

In booking a Renewal Moon, guests will also receive a welcome gift that includes an intimacy-focused game and The Surprise Date Challenge, a book that shares simple and fun ways to help couples reach new levels of connection and commitment.

With a heritage dating back to 1929, Royal Palms combines the graciousness and sophistication of a storied Mediterranean villa with the intimacy and privacy of a secluded retreat, leaving a lasting impression on all who visit. A true destination for lovers, the resort was originally built as a private mansion as a grand gesture of love by financier Delos Willard Cooke for his wife Florence. Unlike any other resort in Arizona, winding stone paths transport guests past a grove of orange trees, trickling fountains in courtyards, roaring outdoor fireplaces, 100-year-old rustic doorways and hand-painted tiles, and lush gardens filled with magenta bougainvillea, exotic plants and desert flowers.

In-room fireplaces, custom-designed and hand-carved furniture, views of the resort’s gardens and Camelback Mountain, all set the tone for the ideal couples retreat.
