The Sanford Institute of Philanthropy at Maricopa Community Colleges is excited to announce the official launch of the Fundraising Academy, a comprehensive training program designed to increase the fundraising capabilities of Arizona’s nonprofit professionals.

The Academy begins on March 12, 2018 and includes nine full-day sessions over four months led by some of the Valley’s leading fundraising and nonprofit professionals including Kristin Romaine – Founder and CEO of Like the Lettuce, Torrie Taj – President and CEO of Child Crisis Arizona, Alison Rapping – Principal at Alison Rapping & Associates, and more. All sessions will be held in Tempe, at the Conference Center at Rio Salado College.

“We are really excited to start this Academy in Arizona,” Corey Pruitt, chief operating officer for the Institute, said. “We are looking forward to the positive impact it will have on Arizona’s nonprofit professionals and on Arizona’s nonprofits reaching their individual missions.”

The Academy offers a fresh perspective on four key topic areas: Basics of Fundraising, Cause Selling, Major Gifts, and Planned Giving. At the end of the program, participants will have the opportunity to participate in a pitch contest to demonstrate the skills they learned and compete for prizes for their organizations such as a full-page ad in AZ Business Angels magazine.

The program is intended for both new and experienced fundraising professionals and is eligible for 80 education points toward the Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) certification, which satisfies the certification’s entire educational requirement.

The Institute is thrilled to offer this inaugural Academy for just $750 per person (usually $2500 per person) after receiving funding to offset the cost of the program. Nonprofits interested in sending more than one person can enjoy additional savings, as the Institute is providing a “buy one get one free” deal now through February 28, 2018.
