College football’s national championship is the dream matchup the sporting world has been anticipating. It also should be a dream come true for the financial coffers of Arizona businesses.

Thousands of fans and national media will spend millions of dollars at Arizona hotels, restaurants and attractions as the 2011 BCS National Championship Jan. 10 at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale pits No. 1 Auburn (13-0) vs. No. 2 Oregon (12-0).

Auburn punched its ticket to the national title game Saturday by beating South Carolina in the SEC title game. Oregon secured its spot by beating rival Oregon State and running the table in the Pac-10.

The Valley’s other two postseason games – the Dec. 28 Insight Bowl at Sun Devil Stadium in Tempe and the Jan. 1 Tostitos Fiesta Bowl at UOP Stadium – made their selections Sunday night. Oklahoma (11-2) and Connecticut (8-4) will play in the Fiesta Bowl and Missouri (10-3) will play Iowa (7-5) in the Insight Bowl.
