Internships we offer:

Web Editorial Internship

Duties and responsibilities include online work on several publications and developing new sites. Interns will be writing blogs, short articles (requiring to conduct interviews) and working with press releases, so attention to detail is important. Specific skills (html, design, etc.) are useful but not essential; some can be learned on the job.

Strong writing and copyediting skills a plus. We offer the opportunity to see your work go from a thought, to design, to being published online within a well-known publication.

Graphic Design, Art Internship

Duties and responsibilities include working directly with the art department director and assisting with general duties including checking in advertisements, (working with Acrobat, labeling and filing PDF files), creating flyers, creating infographics for our website, touching up photos, uploading files, etc.

Interns should be efficient, organized and have experience working with Creative Suite 3, 4 or 5.

Marketing Internship

Duties and responsibilities include project management, event planning for AZ Big Media’s events and expos, network with other industry leaders, copywriting, proofreading and helping to create eBlasts, and market collateral pieces including fliers, brochures, etc. — as well as work directly with the Publisher and assist with general duties.

Social Media, SEO Internship

Social media interns will be instrumental in increasing and strengthening AZ Big Media’s social media presence for both the company publications, websites, events and staff.

Duties and responsibilities include:

  • Monitor and engage on Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and various other sites
  • Work closely with our staff on web campaigns including updates to Twitter, the websites, Facebook and LinkedIn
  • Learn how to build a following
  • Create content for feeds and snippets in various social media sites
  • Aid daily online email content marketing
  • Create and update daily, weekly and monthly reports
  • Optimize tags, conduct keyword research, tag and title content, manage and track link building campaigns
  • Assist in quality control of company website material (proof pages, make sure links work, add photos to posts, redirect URLs, etc.)
  • Provide support in production and management of content for the website (write blogs / stories for the web, create pages and posts with either original work or stories published in one of the magazines, etc.)

Video, Multimedia Internship

Duties and responsibilities include creating short, web-appropriate videos (among other forms of media) posted on Arizona Business Magazine’s companion website AZNow.Biz that effectively grab and maintain the attention of our audience — all the while retaining the company’s branding.

Interns must also have access to filming equipment, including a camera, tripod and a mic(s).

Web Development / Web Programming Internship

Duties and responsibilities include online work on several publications and developing new sites.

Development: Specific skills, including html, design, etc. are recommended; some can be learned on the job. Interns must be familiar with PHP.

Programming: Specific skills, including html, design, CSS, php, MySQL, etc. are recommended; some can be learned on the job. Interns must be familiar with PHP.

Students: For School Credit

Interns will have flexible schedules with opportunities to work around class times.

The internship is unpaid, however the experience is one that will help you see where you’ll want to take your career in the future. If you are interested in, and eligible to earn school credit for internships, we will assist with university requirements, both lower and upper division credit, and interns can start any time of the year, including the summer.
