According to the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence, victims of domestic violence lose a total of 8.0 million days of paid work each year. Additionally, research shows that the most influential contributing factor associated with domestic and workplace violence is financial stress.

In recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness Month,  the International Financial Leadership Association (IFLA), the nation’s leading authority on financial literacy education, has announced they will donate $10M in scholarships to women in an effort to prevent domestic violence as part of their “Happy Home Initiative“, in the month of October. The first 10,000 women to register will have full access to IFLA University online classes and webinars.

“We are thrilled to be able to offer financial assistance to victims and potential victims of domestic violence to further their education and improve their quality of life,” said founder of IFLA, Professor Rodney Ballance. “This initiative is the first of many that helps illustrate IFLA’s desire to assist individuals in our communities in their quest to achieve a better, safer, quality of life. We are excited about the scholarships and look forward to the impact it will have on the lives of our students.”

The “Happy Home Initiative” is the first of many community initiatives being launched this year by IFLA, that will provide free or reduced education for select individuals and communities across the United States. Through IFLA University, the online educational platform, participants will have access to life-changing  educational workshops, videos and curriculum on financial literacy topics, guaranteed to improve quality of life.

“IFLA is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life, income and socio-economic status of individuals, businesses and organizations, through an online platform, known as IFLA University,” said Ballance. “We’ve seen the direct impact financial literacy can have and we know our platform can be the vehicle for change that our communities need during this critical time in our country.”

The organization was started in 2011 by Professor Rodney Ballance, author and nationally known financial expert, in an attempt to help people across America achieve financial freedom. IFLA will officially launch their educational platform to the public in November, with courses starting at $349.
