Did you receive an unmanned aircraft system (UAS) or drone as they are more commonly known for the holidays?  New drone operators may have questions about where they can be flown and what they need to do in order to fly them.  Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport has launched a new web page and notification portal for drone hobbyists to use in order to help them comply with the law, and fly safely and responsibly.

Drone pilots should visit https://skyharbor.com/drones for safety tips, an informational video, and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) rules and regulations.  For example, the FAA now requires all unmanned aircraft systems, including drones to be registered. Those aircraft are prohibited from operating within a five mile radius of any towered airport without notifying the airport and the control tower.  A notification portal on our website provides details on how you can notify the airport and FAA on flying your drone.
