Summer may be over for some kids (I can hear parents cheering from Phoenix to Flagstaff), but simply because school has, or is about to start, doesn’t mean the fun is over. In fact, what better way to treat the entire family for all their back to school prep than with a Tucson Staycation? In one tranquil, picturesque place you can golf, receive a massage and kids can be endless entertained … and you can do it all at the Hilton Tucson El Conquistador Golf & Tennis Resort.
Poolside paradise
A resort with five pools is sure to accommodate the aquatic whims of everyone. While the littles tire themselves out on the “Sliderock” waterslide, adults can bask in the quiet of the Acacia (16+) relaxation pool. For family togetherness, there’s the main property pool where everyone can enjoy tasty treats (order the nachos!) and partake in poolside games like water balloon challenges and hula hooping.
Plenty of room for everyone
There are several rooms to choose from, but my advice, if you have a family of 4 or 5, is to do what we did and book a “Junior Suite.” The price is right and there’s a decent sprawl-seating space for everyone to visit … although, with all there is to do at El Conquistador, you probably won’t spend much time in your hotel room.
Amenity, serenity something for all to see
I’ve mentioned the golf, spa and pools, but there are many more amenities to take advantage of at El Conquistador. The resort also has on-site horseback riding available (El Conquistador Western Adventures), access to hiking and biking trails and several tennis courts. How on earth are my fellow parents able to indulge in such amenities while children are present? You can thank the smarties at El Conquistador for coming up with a solution for that – the El Conquistador Kids Club. While caregivers take advantage of self-care, they can relax knowing that their kids (ages 4-12) will be well entertained with a number of activities, crafts and games.
Erin’s Epilogue
Be sure to check out the weekly activities calendar before, or upon, your arrival at El Conquistador. In addition to yoga, Pilates, native flute playing and happy hour specials, there are several other unique events available. During our stay, the resort set up a makeshift petting zoo, courtesy of the amazing Funny Foot Farms, where we got to interact with a turkey, goat, tortoise, bunny, chickens and a capybara!
