Everyone needs a little rub down every once in a while, but if you don’t have the time or the money to make it to one of Arizona’s world-renowned spas, there are still plenty of places in the East Valley that won’t leave your bank account sore — including AVEDA Concept Salons.

AVEDA, a beauty company that tries to keep it as green as possible, has more than 10 locations in the Valley alone — each salon bearing a different concept but the same key rituals.

AVEDA is Sanskrit for “all knowledge,” based in the Hindu science of longevity, so no matter what salon you go to, you know you will leave with a more spiritual experience than usual.

All of the AVEDA Concept Salons are unique in their specialization of Aromatherapy, with services for all five senses. Upon walking in, you are told to choose a card that will guide your treatments of the day. The card has a little blurb to inspire you, and it describes in detail the aroma that all your treatments will be dowsed in. Stress relieving scalp massages, hand facials or finishing touch to make-up may also be given, free of charge.

AVEDA Mood Swings Salon & Skin Spa

Located on Mill Ave., this Salon is geared more towards the college student than the business woman, which is why they keep it trendy and fresh by displaying a different local artists’ work every two months. Mood Swings is so trendy in fact that it was actually the first of AVEDA’s Lifestyle Salons to make a debut in Arizona. The 5,000-square-feet salon was voted “Best Trendy Salon” by the East Valley Tribune as well as one of the “Top Ten Fastest Growing Salons in the World” at AVEDA’s Congress Festival.
