AARP Arizona hired Alex A. Juarez as its Communications Director. Juarez will be responsible for developing and implementing AARP communications activities and assist in implementing initiatives and campaigns in the state.
He will be working to maintain relationships with media outlets in the state and promote AARP’s activities and advocacy efforts through media and public relations activities. Juarez recently joined AARP having concluded a lengthy tenure at CenturyLink as a Market Development and Public Relations executive where he engaged in development of relationships and strategic planning initiatives.
Juarez also has extensive experience with Qwest and US WEST in working with multicultural markets. His Fortune 200 experience has required that he help develop and negotiate strategies that touch on government and private sector initiatives, often affecting diverse markets.

I am excited to help people in the areas of healthcare, employment security, affordable utilities and retirement planning,” said Juarez.
Juarez began his career with GTE in Wisconsin where he focused on marketing and customer service. In 1991 he moved to Arizona where he grew his marketing experience into strategic relationships with important community leaders. Juarez worked for Quepasa.com as Community Program Director and then dedicated himself to the Arizona Hispanic Chamber of Commerce as Membership Director strengthening his ties to important groups in Arizona. Juarez received the prestigious Valle Del Sol Profile of Success Exemplary Leadership Award in 2010.
Juarez’s executive leadership includes serving on the Arizona Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Board for eleven years and in 2006 and 2007 was Chairman of that Board. His board leadership includes the Phoenix Memorial Hospital Advisory Board and the Greater Phoenix Chamber Hispanic Council Board, Cesar Chavez Annual Dinner Board and the AZ Dbacks Ambassador Council.
