SEO short for Search Engine Optimization is the process of ranking a website higher on search engines for specific keywords. For example, if a pressure washing company want’s to show up #1 on Google for the search “pressure washing company near me” they need to have a great website, but more importantly a good SEO strategy to show up.
We’re going to break down 5 tips you can use to boost your SEO for your pressure washing website.
1. Track Your Keywords
It’s important to understand where your current website stands for the keywords you want to rank for. For example, if you’re already ranked #1 for “roof cleaning companies” you may not want to focus on that keyword. The same would be true if you have a low ranking for a keyword you really want to rank for.
Pro tip: In most cases you want to prioritize your keywords that you go after based on volume. It doesn’t matter if you’re ranked #1 for the keyword “commercial pressure washing companies” if that keyword gets zero searches in your area.
You can use free tools like Ubersuggest helping you find high volume keywords, check your current website’s ranking, and also check the keyword rankings of all of your competitors.
2. Increase Your Website Speed
When it comes to ranking higher on Google It’s very important that your website is fast. There are many factors that come into play when we talk about what you can do to increase your website’s speed.
Luckily there couple of tools you can use to check your website speed and not only do they tell you what the current speed of your site is, and give you a ranking, but they will also tell you the current issues that are slowing down your website, and possibly how to resolve those issues.
This is a key, but often skipped step in SEO that alone can put your on the front page of Google.
3. Optimize Keywords
Once you know what keywords you want to rank for, and have your website speed issues fixed it’s time to make sure that your website is optimized for the keywords you want to rank for.
Now ideally you have individual service pages for all of the services you offer. So if you offer: roof cleaning, house washing, and concrete cleaning you’ll want to make sure that you have pages dedicated to those services.
Some important things to do on each of those pages to ensure the best ranking results are:
- Make sure the keyword you are trying to rank for is in the title.
- Make sure that all the images on the page have alt descriptions all containing the keyword.
- Try and have at least 2-4 text sections on each page, and each text section having an H2 header with a variation of the keyword. So for example on the roof cleaning page the main H1 title could be “roof cleaning company” and the other text sections could have h2 headers that look like this “the best roof cleaning services” “looking for roof pressure washing?”
There are many other things you can do to the pages, but doing these 3 things is a good start.
4. Use Blog Posts For Niche Searches
Now of course you want to rank for the big keywords but what about for searches like “pool concrete cleaning” or “oil stain removal” typically those keywords won’t appear on your service pages, or anywhere on your site for that matter.
So how do you rank them?
That’s where blog post’s come in, when you find niche keywords that you want to rank for write and publish a blog post containing those keywords.
5. Build Backlinks
Arguably one of the most important factors for ranking your pressure washing website is your Domain Authority, also known as: Authority Score, URL Rating, Etc. Each SEO tool uses a different name.
With the scale for this is between 1-100. To simply this, the higher your score the more likely your website is to rank for the keywords you optimized for.
So how do you increase your domain authority? By building backlinks.
A backlink is anywhere on the internet your domain appears. For example, putting your domain on your Facebook business page would be considered 1 backlink.
The higher the domain authority is on the site from which you get a backlink, the higher it is likely to boost your site’s domain authority.
