ASU names special advisor on American Indian affairs

The Office of the President at Arizona State University has named Jacob Moore as the new Vice President, Special Advisor to the President on American Indian Affairs. Moore will assume his new role on July 1, 2023. 

Moore was formerly the Associate Vice President of Tribal Relations in the Office of Government and Community Affairs at ASU. His work included intergovernmental affairs between ASU and tribal nations and communities. In his new role, Moore will cover a range of transformative initiatives, including utilizing Indigenous knowledge, developing partnerships, and aligning research projects with tribal priorities.

Moore began his professional career with Arizona State University fourteen years ago. He received his MBA from the W.P. Carey School of Business and has professional experience in health policy, economic development, and tribal government, as well as eight years on the Arizona State Board of Education.

“I am grateful for the opportunity to be of service to ASU and to Indigenous students and communities,” said Moore, who is Lakota, Dakota, Tohono O’odham, and Akimel O’odham. Assuming fundamental responsibility for the economic, social, cultural and overall health of the communities it serves is straight out of the university’s charter,” Moore said. As he takes on this role, strengthening relationships with Tribal partners will be a priority.

Medical director selected for Avondale hospital

Dr. Ronald Quang has been named Medical Director of ClearSky Rehabilitation Hospital of Avondale. The medical rehabilitation hospital serves patients with disabling injuries or illnesses such as strokes, brain injuries, hip fractures, spinal injuries, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, or other medically-complex conditions like COVID-19. 

Quang will lead ClearSky Avondale’s interdisciplinary healthcare team, which will provide patient services that include physical, occupational, and speech therapy; rehabilitative nursing; case management; respiratory therapy; dietary services; and other specialized care. 

Board certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation, Quang is a Fellow of the American Academy of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation. He brings more than 20 years of experience to his role, having worked at several inpatient rehabilitation hospitals. Most recently, he was the medical director at a rehabilitation hospital in Scottsdale. During his tenure there, he helped co-found a physical medicine & rehabilitation residency and served as the associate program director. Quang also has served in teaching roles at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA and Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. He was awarded Outstanding Physician of the Year during his first year at UCLA due to his accomplishments for teaching residents and physicians.

“I’m passionate about providing specialized rehabilitative care to patients so they can maximize their recoveries and return to the activities that they enjoy,” Quang says. “It’s extremely rewarding to provide a higher level of care that allows patients to regain independence and quality of life.” 

Erin Przybylinski joins JHKM’s litigation practice in Arizona

Jennings Haug Keleher McLeod (JHKM) announces that Erin Przybylinski has joined the firm as a litigation attorney with its Phoenix office.

Erin’s practice focuses primarily on representing clients in a wide range of litigation matters, including civil litigation, medical malpractice, personal injury and wrongful death as well as civil rights and constitutional law violation claims. She has experience representing clients in a wide range of litigation matters, including 42 U.S.C. 1983 civil rights cases.

Previously, Erin worked with the Bronx District Attorney’s Office in New York City where she prosecuted crimes of domestic violence.

An Arizona native, Erin received her undergraduate degree from the University of Arizona in 2016 and graduated cum laude from Case Western Reserve University School of Law in 2019. In addition to practicing in Arizona, she is admitted to practice in New York.

Greater Phoenix Chamber announces board members

The Greater Phoenix Chamber announced new leaders within its board of directors to lead the organization in its mission to catalyze regional prosperity through forward-thinking public policy, intentional economic growth, and diverse, prepared talent in fiscal year 2024.

Scott Smith, managing partner of TowerHunter, will serve as the 2023-2024 board chair, succeeding Erin Mettille, public & social impact leader, Slalom Consulting. Laura Lynn Smith, division vice president and general manager, ADP, Inc., will serve as chair-elect.
