JW Marriott Scottsdale Camelback Inn Resort appoints new area GM
JW Marriott Scottsdale Camelback Inn Resort & Spa welcomed Leo Percopo to the role of Area General Manager at the 453-room landmark resort set on 125 acres of Sonoran Desert terrain in affluent Paradise Valley, Ariz. With his role of Area General Manager, Percopo will oversee this resort along with the rest of the full service, managed Marriott hotels in Arizona.
Originally opened on Dec. 15, 1936 by entrepreneur Jack Stewart, JW Marriott Scottsdale Camelback Inn Resort & Spa is a longtime favorite of the Marriott family who has vacationed there since the 1940s. In 1967, Marriott Hotel Corporation acquired the Inn, making it the first resort in the company’s portfolio. The team is proud to have Percopo lead the resort as it celebrates its 86th anniversary in the desert where travelers from all over the world continue to find peace and serenity. As a well-respected leader with more than 30 years of luxury hospitality experience, Percopo is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the award-winning resort. This includes the property’s seven distinctive restaurants and lounges, The Spa at Camelback Inn, Camelback Golf Club, and more than 127,000 square feet of gathering spaces.
Prior to joining the team, Percopo spent 17 years with Starwood Hotels & Resorts where he held key leadership positions including resort manager at The Phoenician, a Luxury Collection Resort in Scottsdale, Ariz. and general manager at Sheraton Phoenix Downtown, which he led through its opening in 2020. Percopo was a key member of the brand’s Eastern Region leadership team and spearheaded the roll-out of Alternative Work Arrangement (AWA) in an effort to drive work-life balance, leadership retention, and attract new talent. Most recently, Percopo served as vice president of operations and area managing director for Omni Hotels & Resorts where he oversaw 26 hotels and resorts with revenues exceeding $1 billion.
The Cavanagh Law Firm announces new equity member and practice group
The Cavanagh Law Firm, a premier multi-practice law firm headquartered in Phoenix, recently welcomed a new Equity Member, Kimberly Kent, along with her practice group: Attorney McKenzie List, Paralegal Melissa Gutknecht and Admins Connie McQueary and Kathy Gray. The group will focus on representing all health providers and hospitals in litigation and transactional matters as well as financial and commercial transactions for health care providers, risk reduction and compliance and consultation on health care reform issues.
Kimberly Kent is a nurse attorney with over 30 years of complex trial and litigation experience. Since graduating from Arizona State University (ASU) College of Law in 1992 she has practiced entirely in the areas of medical malpractice, health care law and complex commercial litigation. She has substantial success in the courtroom in Arizona and Nevada having successfully tried a numerous complex high exposure cases. Her current practice involves the defense of health care providers in medical malpractice or before a regulatory agency, complex commercial tort litigation including product liability. Ms. Kent also received a nursing degree from ASU which she put to good use, working as a registered nurse in high-risk areas of a neonatal ICU and emergency medicine. Ms. Kent also flew with AirEvac as a flight nurse and was a charter member ECMO technician. She still maintains her nursing license and often volunteers in health care. Her education and experience in nursing has led to her passion for health care law.
