NAI Horizon announces hiring of Cecelia Martinez

NAI Horizon continues its strategic growth, hiring its newest marketing team member, Cecelia Martinez, as Marketing Specialist.

Martinez is responsible for creating and updating marketing materials and e-blasts, creating property offering memorandums and marketing packages, and proposals for new businesses. She has experience with research, communication, photography, and marketing.

“Cecelia brings experience with all aspects of commercial property marketing,” said NAI Horizon CEO/Designated Broker Terry Martin-Denning. “Adding a team member with that background will be invaluable to our agents and their clients.”

Martinez has worked in commercial real estate marketing and graphic design for the past eight years. She was the Senior Graphic Designer with Capital Asset Management (CAM) for 2½ years.

Prior to joining CAM, she was part of ZELL Commercial Real Estate Services, which CAM acquired in late 2021. During her 2½ years at CAM, she drove the marketing efforts for the brokerage team and property managers.

REDW welcomes Richard Signs, CPA, as principal

In his role, Signs—who will work from the firm’s fast-growing Phoenix office—will support businesses in responsible growth and maturation, modernize established accounting policies and procedures, and support business development firmwide.

Signs brings more than 15 years of experience to the leadership role, including more than a decade working in audit and assurance with a leading U.S. provider of audit, tax, and consulting services in Arizona and California, during which time he successfully completed the company’s Experienced Leadership Program and served as a member of the company’s Internal Control over Financial Reporting Center of Excellence program. While with the company, Signs also served as executive sponsor of the firm’s local networking group focused on raising awareness for individuals with special needs. Additionally, Signs brings experience from his roles as Controller and Director of Accounting for STINE ENTERPRISES, INC., and Director of Technical Accounting for RiceBran Technologies, Inc.

A licensed CPA in Arizona and California, Signs is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and Arizona Society of Certified Public Accountants. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and Accounting from San Diego State University, where he was a member of Phi Kappa Phi, Beta Gamma Sigma, and graduated Cum Laude with Distinction in Accounting.

Newmark hires Anthony Valenzuela

Newmark announces that debt and structured finance expert Anthony Valenzuela has joined the firm as Executive Managing Director. With more than 18 years of commercial real estate experience, Valenzuela specializes in the origination of conventional and workforce multifamily housing loans with deep expertise in Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac programs.

Based in Phoenix, Valenzuelahas played a vital role in placing over $6 billion of debt and equity through varying executions across a wide range of capital platforms and property types. He leverages extensive product expertise, deep relationships, underwriting experience and accountability to consistently deliver tailored debt and equity solutions for clients.

SRP names new executives

Salt River Project (SRP) has announced Brian Koch as the company’s new Associate General Manager and Chief Financial Officer, effective February 19, and Vanessa Kisicki as Associate General Manager and Chief Customer Executive, effective immediately. 

Koch joined SRP in 2001 and currently serves as Corporate Treasurer and Senior Director of Financial Services. In this position, he helps shape SRP’s overall financial health, leading the pricing, financial planning, energy risk management, financial trusts and investments, and treasury operations and compliance areas. Koch has also held leadership positions in the energy risk management, financial planning, resource planning and development areas. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and a Master of Business Administration from Northern Arizona University.  

Koch succeeds Aidan McSheffrey, who will retire in May 2024 after more than 31 years with SRP.  

“Aidan’s leadership of SRP’s financial services team is one of the reasons that SRP maintains the highest credit rating in the nation among public power companies,” said Jim Pratt, SRP General Manager and Chief Executive Officer. “Brian will bring to his new role tremendous expertise and knowledge of our industry that will be critical as SRP looks to meet a 25 percent increase in energy demand by 2030 while ensuring affordable prices for our customers.”  

Kisicki has been with SRP for nearly 22 years. She most recently served as Director of Distribution Strategy where she was responsible for planning and modernizing the electric distribution grid for one of the fastest growing areas of the nation. She specializes in building and leading strategic teams, fostering technology innovation, and nurturing the development of emerging leaders. She earned a Bachelor of Industrial Engineering from Georgia Tech and a Master of Business Administration from Arizona State University.

Scott Salyer joins McShane Construction Company

McShane Construction Company announced that Scott Salyer has joined the firm as Vice President & Regional Manager. Salyer will oversee the firm’s Southwest Regional Office in Phoenix, Arizona. 

“We are thrilled to have Scott join the McShane team,” shared Mat Dougherty, President of McShane. “His past experience in the Southwest construction market positions him for great success in this role, and we look forward to all that he has to offer to our company.”

As Vice President & Regional Manager, Salyer will lead Arizona operations, including pre-construction efforts, budgeting, and client relations for McShane’s projects across the Southwest.

CBRE’S promotes Mike Parker, Austin Groen and Jonathan Teeter

CBRE announced that three professionals in its Phoenix office have achieved title promotions. Mike Parker has been promoted to Executive Vice President, and Austin Groen and Jonathan Teeter have been promoted to Vice President.

“Mike, Austin and Jonathan are dedicated, expert and impactful contributors to our team in Phoenix,” said Paul Komadina, Senior Managing Director for CBRE in Phoenix. “They consistently have provided their clients with exceptional success.”

Mr. Parker has established himself as an industrial leasing and sales expert in the Southeast Valley and Sky Harbor Airport submarkets. Over the past three years, he has been involved in more than $162 million in sales and over $131 million in lease transactions.

Mr. Groen joined CBRE’s institutional multifamily properties team in Phoenix in 2020. Since then, he has been involved in over 131 transactions totaling more than $11 billion. In 2022, Mr. Groen was honored as Rookie of the Year in CBRE’s Phoenix office. Before he worked at CBRE, he served as a senior investment analyst at PGIM Real Estate Finance in Washington, D.C. He graduated magna cum laude from the University of San Diego with a bachelor’s degree.

Since joining CBRE in 2018, Mr. Teeter has represented many landlords and tenants in the Phoenix market, specializing in industrial leasing and sales. He’s a vital member of the team and his partners with Jackie Orcutt and John Grady in Phoenix. In 2021, Mr. Teeter was honored as Rookie of the Year in CBRE’s Phoenix office.
