Each day, we will profile an innovative leader who was selected for the 2026 edition of Az Business Leaders magazine. Today, meet Abbie Fink, president of HMA Public Relations.

Abbie Fink, president of HMA Public Relations

Background: Fink is president of HMA Public Relations, a full-service marketing communications firm based in Phoenix. She’s been with the firm since 1993. Under her leadership, HMA Public Relations received an Award of Excellence as the 2025 Boutique Agency of the Year from the Public Relations Society of America. She currently serves as the marketing committee co-chair at Congregation Beth Israel, is a member of the Common Sense Media Advisory Council and is Chair of the board of directors for Valley Youth Theatre.

Upcoming challenge: “The public relations industry will continue to be transformed, not only due to the use of technology, through AI, but because of the continued need to humanize and be more empathetic. As PR practitioners we need to use more and better resources to communicate effectively and efficiently. We need to embrace a holistic approach to communications in order to build lasting relationships with our stakeholders.”

Leadership lesson: “There are many different communication styles and personalities on your team. You can’t lead the same way with everyone. What works with one person, may not for the other. Good leaders adjust their style to fit the team, not the other way around.”

Surprising fact: “I started as a business major at Arizona State University. But after three semesters of less than stellar grades and the real possibility of getting kicked out, I discovered the journalism program and never looked back. Some of what I learned at the business school must have sunk in because as a business owner I do find myself relying on the analytical side of brain quite a bit.”
