Massage Envy and the Arthritis Foundation recently joined forces for the fifth annual Healing Hands for Arthritis event. This one-day national event helped build awareness and raise funds to fight arthritis. The 39 Massage Envy locations in Arizona raised more than $42,000. Nationwide, Massage Envy raised an all-time high of $1,107,892.

“The support we received from our local community for Healing Hands for Arthritis was incredible. We can’t thank all of our members and guests enough for participating,” said Steve Cook, Massage Envy’s regional developer for Arizona. “We look forward to continuing our partnership with the Arthritis Foundation.”

During the event, Murad®, Massage Envy’s exclusive skin care partner, donated 10 percent of all sales from their products sold at Massage Envy locations to the Arthritis Foundation. BioFreeze and Wyndmere also donated 10 percent of their retail sales to the cause.

Today, arthritis affects 50 million adults and 300,000 children. By the year 2030, an estimated 67 million or 25 percent of the projected total adult population will have arthritis. Massage Envy and the Arthritis Foundation share a common understanding about the devastating effects of the disease on the body and the potential for massage therapy to relieve and control certain symptoms. Massage therapy can play an important role in alleviating the pain and swelling caused by arthritis while improving flexibility and circulation, and reducing stress and anxiety.
