Scottsdale Firefighter Todd Pendleton carried an Alice Cooper-autographed Fender guitar on an 8-week-long adventure to the summit of Mt. Everest to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS).
Pendleton wants to bring awareness to those suffering from leukemia and lymphoma, so he is auctioning the guitar on eBay and donating the proceeds to LLS.
Pendleton is not only a firefighter, he is also a hiking guide throughout the Southwest. He has been the guide for the Team in Training – Leukemia and Lymphoma Society participants.
Throughout these adventures, he has been inspired by their stories of tragedy and triumph.
When asked to be a part of an expedition to Everest, Pendleton immediately thought of raising money for LLS and the many people battling blood cancers. “Climb for the Cure” was born.
As part of his effort, he acquired a Fender guitar that was autographed by Alice Cooper.
He carried the guitar with all of his gear on his journey to the top of the world.
This was no usual climb. This Everest Expedition coincided and celebrated the first American ascent of Everest 50 years ago and the first ascent ever 60 years ago.
