Arizona Care Network fills a key leadership position

Arizona Care Network has filled a key leadership position with the addition of Dr. Ann Marie Sun as medical director of Population Health.

Sun joins ACN to work alongside chief medical officer Dr. Ed Clarke to assure appropriate healthcare delivery that improves outcomes for ACN’s wide variety of patient populations.

“Dr. Sun’s experience in clinical quality improvement and utilization management will help us succeed in our value-based arrangements, which are growing both in number and in complexity,” said Dr. Clarke. She will identify opportunities for clinical improvement and develop provider and patient centric solutions that streamline care delivery, reduce cost and improve outcomes.

In addition, Dr. Sun will provide clinical oversight for ACN’s care coordination team, N Compass, helping patients navigate through a complex medical environment to ensure they have the services they need to improve their health.

“Prevention is paramount,” notes Dr. Sun. “If we stop patients from getting sick  or at least catch diseases in their early stages—that decreases the need for hospitalization, skilled nursing care, multiple medication use and more. If we can intervene at that level, we’ll make a real difference in people’s overall health.”

Before joining ACN, Sun served as medical director of Health Plan, Utilization Management and Population Health for Banner Health Network. She previously was medical director of Care Coordination at Banner Estrella Medical Center and also served as a clinical investigator.
