Food for the Hungry hires content strategist
Soon after Alice Zhang graduated from journalism school at Northwestern University, she boarded a plane to Peru with the hope of empowering women through the microfinance project and the power of savings. After nearly a year of gathering stories and co-directing an entrepreneurship center designed to help women start their own businesses, Zhang returned to the United States with a global perspective and passion for poverty alleviation. Today, she is bringing her communications skills and passion to Phoenix-based international nonprofit Food for the Hungry as a content strategist.
“As our organization continues to expand our reach globally, we needed the right person to help us tell the incredible stories about the work we do and the people whose lives are transformed through our programs,” said Beth Allen, Senior Communications Manager at Food for the Hungry. “Alice’s background in journalism and passion for our mission makes her an ideal fit for our team.”
While Zhang was in Peru, she realized she had a responsibility to advocate for others and wanted to make a real, lasting impact. Upon her return from Peru, Zhang honed her public relations skills at a PR agency in California, where she shared stories about the fast-paced advancements in technology and often where they intersected with corporate social responsibility, including a project that brought Wi-Fi to underserved parts of India and promoting sustainability causes like coastline beach cleanups via connected objects.
