Behavioral and mental healthcare provider Sierra Tucson appoints its latest chief medical officer, Dr. Steven J. Eichelberg, MD, DFASAM, FAPA.

Eickelberg specializes in addiction-related psychiatric and psychotherapy services. He is board certified in psychiatry and addiction medicine and is a fellow of the American Board of Psychiatry and American Board of Addiction Medicine.

Eickelberg brings with him more than 20 years of addiction psychiatrist experience.

“Dr. Eickelberg has a long-standing, successful history in the addiction and recovery field and to have his leadership guiding Sierra Tucson is paramount to our continued patient success” said Bill Anderson, CEO of Sierra Tucson. “We are incredibly lucky to have him on our team and a part of the Sierra Tucson family.”

Additionally, Eickelberg serves on the Executive Council of the California Society of Addiction Medicine (CSAM). He is the President of the Medical Education and Research Foundation for the Treatment of Addiction (MERF), an organization that focuses on educating physicians about addiction.

Eickelberg is a graduate of Oregon Health & Science University and received training at John Hopkins Hospital, Massachusetts General Hospital, and the University of Arizona Health Sciences Center. In 2014, the California Society of Addiction Medicine presented Eickelberg with the Vernelle Fox Award in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the field of addiction medicine as an educator and mentor.
