Today’s spotlight: Toni Morales Broberg
Title: President, AT&T Arizona
Morales Broberg is president of AT&T Arizona and leads external and legislative affairs statewide. Her career has spanned local and national government affairs positions, including serving in the White House as deputy associate director for communities at the Council on Environmental Quality.
Source of pride: “Two come to mind. At the White House, I worked on an executive order on environmental justice that ensures fair treatment regarding environmental health of disadvantaged communities. And recently, AT&T launched the Believe Phoenix initiative to help address hunger and food insecurity in the Valley. Seeing the positive impact of these efforts has been incredible.”
The personality trait that helped you succeed: “Tenacity has always helped me in my career. I think it’s vital to work with a purpose and be able to push to get the job done. When unexpected obstacles get in your way, you need to be able to persevere.”
The personality trait that got you into trouble: “Directness. I always appreciate it when people are clear and straightforward, but it’s taken me time to realize that not everyone communicates in the same way.”
Best childhood memory: “One of my most cherished memories was when my sisters and I went to Newport Beach. I will never forget the image – it was sunny and I was swimming in my American flag one-piece bathing suit. It was a beautiful, idyllic day that solidified my love of the ocean.”
